SQF/QA Manager

Description:Candidate will adhere to established policies and procedures of Company. Testing and inspections of products at various stages of production process from raw materials acceptance to finished product. Compiles and evaluates data and reports to determine and maintain quality and consistency of products. Maintains records on sanitations, maintenance, operations as well as regulatory compliance to local, state, and federal regulations such as FDA Good Manufacturing Practices, health permits, HACCP, OSHA, SQF. Develops quality and safety programs relative to improvement and governmental regulations.

Duties:Assures quality of product at specified stages in the production process by performing tests on the following attributes: % salt, color, % oil, % moisture, wt. per 10 (if applicable), % seasoning (if applicable), general appearance, % breakage, and taste.

Assures quality of finished package by visually examining the seals, lack of pleating, air fill, general appearance, date/price accuracy and legibility. Weight checks are performed and recorded.

Assures quality of incoming raw materials including the following: oil - free fatty acid test, visual examination for clarity; potatoes - color and defects; flour - absence of rodent activity, moisture, general appearance; seasoning - salt content; packaging material - general appearance and absence of odor.

Records and communicates test data to appropriate personnel. This includes preparing reports, charts, and/or entering data into a computer for analysis. Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards as well as providing recommendations on such deviations.

Makes recommendations to achieve optimum quality throughout facility. This includes performing sanitation audits, making recommendations on equipment or procedures, training and educating employees in relation to product quality, development or modifying programs to improve product quality or to satisfy governmental regulations.

Supervises Quality Assurance Technician. This includes development of technician to improve skills and increase knowledge.
Qualifications:Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field. Minimum of 3 years experience with SQF/Quality.

Knowledge of laboratory procedures. Knowledge of governmental agencies and their respective laws and regulations related to quality including Good Manufacturing Practices, Product Recall Procedures, Hazard Communication, Weights and Measures, Nutritional Labeling, SQF auditing, HACCP, Safety Team Implementation.

Ability to communication well both verbally and written at all levels in the manufacturing environment.

Ability to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.

Some Personal computer experience helpful.
